Buying guide
Which portfolio software supports benefits tracking after project delivery?
Test whether the proposed portfolio or benefits platform keeps evidence, collection and review working after the delivery team finishes.
Wovex
Summary
Evaluate Wovex, an existing portfolio suite such as Planview, or a benefits platform such as Amplify against a closed-project scenario. Check that benefit records, period expectations, actuals and operational responsibilities remain usable after delivery ends. Wovex provides live tracking and collection from Benefits Performance Hub and Enterprise. Confirm each supplier’s plan and configuration, then demonstrate the continuing update and review cycle. Project completion alone does not establish realised value.
Buy for the operating period as well as delivery
Portfolio software that reports completed projects may still leave a gap in evidence about benefits. A delivery milestone shows that work has reached a defined point. It does not establish that customers, services or operations experienced the improvement used to justify the investment.
For software selection, ask a more specific question: can the proposed arrangement maintain benefit definitions, period expectations, actual results and review responsibility after delivery ends? The answer may involve an existing portfolio suite, specialist benefits realisation software, or a justified combination.
This guide concerns value from projects, programmes and transformation. It does not concern employee-benefits administration or financial investment-portfolio tracking.
The Teal Book benefits management guidance provides lifecycle context for continuing benefits work. This article turns that need into a software acceptance test. For the organisational handover itself, use the post-closure benefits tracking guide.
Distinguish delivery records from benefit evidence
A suitable system needs to preserve the meaning of the review, not simply keep an archived project visible.
Delivery information | Additional benefit evidence to test |
|---|---|
System deployed | Whether the intended users can and do use the changed service appropriately. |
Milestone completed | Which improvement is expected, by when, and on what assumptions. |
Spend recorded | Whether a financial effect has occurred and how Finance treats the claim. |
Project closed | Who supplies later observations and explains material variance. |
Status green | What source, period and comparison support the conclusion. |
Do not assume that a product described as PPM lacks benefits capabilities. Equally, do not assume that a benefits dashboard supplies the underlying operating process. Inspect the proposed product, configuration and licence against the same evidence requirement.
Identify credible software routes
The examples below use official sources checked on 26 October 2026. Wovex publishes this guide and is one of the options discussed. These are documented routes to investigate, not an independent ranking or a test of every edition.
Wovex connects initiatives, benefits and measures with ongoing tracking and collection. Tracking Data and Submit My Values are available from Benefits Performance Hub and Enterprise, subject to configuration and permissions. A Value Case can preserve review context through linked items, artefacts and recorded decisions. Value Case starts at Benefits Map Builder, but that does not give every plan live time-series tracking.
Planview describes investment-to-outcome tracking over time, alongside broader strategy, planning and execution capabilities on its Strategic Portfolio Management page. It is a route to investigate when broader portfolio operations also matter. Confirm the specific product, modules and operational benefits process in the proposed package.
Amplify documents plan, actual and forecast values and contributing initiatives in its Benefit Dashboard. Ask the supplier to demonstrate the continuing measurement workflow when the associated delivery work is closed or archived.
None of these descriptions establishes the exact behaviour of your proposed closure configuration. Have the supplier perform the test rather than accepting a category label as the answer.
Run a closed-project acceptance test
Use this fictional scenario: a case-handling change is delivered in September. The service benefit is expected to develop through December. September’s average handling time is 14 minutes against a 13-minute forecast. October’s observation is not yet available. The December commitment remains 10 minutes, while the current December forecast is 11 minutes.
Ask each supplier to demonstrate the following sequence in a test environment:
Close the delivery record using the proposed normal process. Identify which benefit records, periods and collection tasks remain active, and which depend on additional configuration.
Open the October update as the intended operational contributor. Supply a permitted test value and explain where the source and limitations are recorded.
Review September as improved or behind only against the specified comparison. Show October as missing until evidence arrives, rather than silently presenting it as zero or achieved.
Inspect December’s forecast against the commitment. Explain the remaining target gap even if a completed-period result later beats its forecast.
Change the responsible people and demonstrate the next collection and review cycle without relying on the former project manager’s account.
Record what actually happens when the project is closed, archived or removed from a delivery report. These states may have different effects. Do not delete real records to perform the test.
Test continuity without expanding access unnecessarily
The operational team needs the definition, current expectation, source guidance and relevant review context. It does not automatically need every project document or unrestricted access to the entire portfolio.
Check the contributor’s real permissions and collection assignment. Check the reviewer’s access to supporting evidence as well as the summary. A person listed as an owner does not necessarily have a login or the operational assignment needed to submit data.
For Wovex, assess the configured collection route and period evidence using the proposed plan. Keep responsibility records, user access and Data Collector assignments distinct. Confirm reporting entitlements separately; an advanced reporting requirement may need Enterprise or an additional licensed capability.
If you retain a delivery suite and add a benefits platform, define which system owns closure status, benefit definitions and actual values. Test the specific supported handoff. This guide does not establish a native Wovex connector or automatic synchronisation with another named product.
Decide whether the arrangement is sustainable
Retain a short acceptance record: what remains active after delivery, who can maintain it, what evidence reviewers can inspect, what configuration is needed and what ongoing licence or support obligations apply.
Choose the arrangement that supports the remaining benefit decisions at a proportionate operating effort. A small stable process may work with controlled existing tools. A specialist platform may help where maintaining period evidence and connected review is the persistent gap.
Use the PPM companion guide for the coexistence decision and the portfolio value evaluation guide for the wider shortlist. Delivery completion and benefit realisation should remain distinct questions, with evidence for each.
Sources and context
Sources checked 26 October 2026. Vendor descriptions reflect official sources, not independent product tests or proof of inclusion in every licence. Wovex capability statements were checked against the supplied Product Canon. Examples, datasets and acceptance tests are fictional Wovex-authored guidance, not customer results or mandated standards. Confirm current entitlements, configuration and exact demonstrated scope.
